STEM Wasn’t Designed for Us — Women💥 (But We're Redesigning It Anyway)

STEM—Science, Tech, Engineering, and Math—wasn’t built with women in mind.
It wasn’t built for us.
Heck, we weren’t even invited to the first few centuries of meetings.
🧪🧠👋

TechSheThink isn’t here to whisper that uncomfortable truth. We’re here to scream it in pastel block letters.

A Brief History of “Where Are the Women?”

For a very long time, STEM was like an exclusive boy’s club with a strict “no glitter, no emotions, no questioning the system” policy.

The lab coats didn’t fit us.
The boardrooms ignored us.
The conferences forgot us.
And the algorithms? Oh honey—they were trained on data that didn’t even include us.

But guess what?

🧬 Women kept showing up.
🔬 We kept solving.
📊 We kept coding.
🚀 And we started building things not just better, but differently.

Let’s Talk Outdated Norms (and Why They’re So Cringe)

💼 “You’re too emotional for leadership.”
🧠 “Women just aren’t wired for math.”
👩‍👧 “What about when you have kids?”

These are not harmless comments—they're micro-barriers stacked like bricks in our path.
And when we talk about women “leaving” STEM?
We’re not walking away—outdated structures, policies, and expectations are pushing us.

But plot twist: We’re pushing back.

Rewriting the STEM Script—The TechSheThink Way

Here’s what we believe STEM should look like:

✨ Emotionally intelligent leadership.
✨ Flexible schedules that don’t punish caregivers.
✨ Innovation fueled by diverse life experiences.
✨ Space for softness in even the hardest sciences.

Because why should we have to shrink to fit STEM?
Why not stretch STEM to fit us?

What You Can Do (Besides Rage-Scroll Through LinkedIn)

✅ Find your crew – Join or start a women-in-tech network.
✅ Mentor a baby STEMinist – We all needed someone once.
✅ Speak up – At the table, on panels, in Slack threads.
✅ Apply anyway – Even if you don’t meet 100% of the bullet points.
✅ Build your own table – (And make it gorgeous.)

The TechSheThink Mission

We’re not just here to make STEM a little more pink.
We’re here to make it equitable, inclusive, loud, weird, brilliant, and beautifully ours.
It wasn’t designed for us, but the next version?
It will be because we’re designing it.
