Welcome back to TECHSHE WEEKLY, the only newsletter where:

  • Your ND brain is normal

  • Your chaos is celebrated

  • Your softness is a strategy

  • And your tech career doesn’t need to look like a LinkedIn motivational poster

This week’s theme?
Letting go of the performance.
Because honestly… I’m tired.
And I know you are too.

Let me tell you about the week I finally stopped pretending I had my life together — and accidentally became better at tech because of it.

🌿 Monday: The Day I Pretended to Be “Organised”

I started the week with the kind of delusional optimism only a woman in tech can have.

I told myself:

“This week, I will be organised.
This week, I will be structured.
This week, I will be a productivity goddess.”

I made a Notion board.
I colour‑coded it.
I added emojis.
I added sub‑tasks.
I added sub‑sub‑tasks.
I added a section called “ Vibes ” because I’m unwell.

And then…
I didn’t open it again.

Not once.

Not even by accident.

By Wednesday, the Notion board was a digital graveyard of good intentions.

And that’s when I realised:

I don’t need more structure.
I need more softness.

🌸 Tuesday: The Day My ND Brain Said “Nope”

On Tuesday, I had a meeting where someone said:

“Let’s keep this simple so everyone can follow.”

And they looked directly at me.

My ND brain immediately left the chat.

I tried to focus.
I really did.
But my brain was like:

  • What did he mean by that?

  • Was that shade?

  • Should I be offended?

  • Why is his jumper so aggressively navy?

  • Did I leave the oven on?

  • What is the meaning of life?

By the time I came back to reality, the meeting was over, and I had no idea what had happened.

Old me would’ve panicked.
Old me would’ve masked.
Old me would’ve pretended I understood everything.

But this week?
I simply said:

/

“Can someone summarise the key points for me?”

And guess what?

Nobody died.
Nobody judged me.
Nobody revoked my tech‑girl membership card.

They just… summarised it.

Turns out, clarity is allowed.
Who knew?

If you’ve ever shrank in a meeting, these prompts will help you rise softly and powerfully.

🌿 Wednesday: The Day I Stopped Apologising

On Wednesday, I caught myself apologising for:

  • asking a question

  • needing clarification

  • taking a moment to think

  • being overwhelmed

  • being human

And I thought:

Why am I apologising for existing?

Men don’t apologise for breathing.
Men don’t apologise for asking questions.
Men don’t apologise for taking up space.

So I stopped apologising too.

And everything shifted.

My voice softened — but strengthened.
My ideas landed — without shrinking.
My presence expanded — without force.

Soft confidence hits different.

🌸 Thursday: The Day I Realised I Wasn’t the Problem

On Thursday, I had a moment.
A big one.

I was working on a problem that three people before me couldn’t solve.
Everyone was stressed.
Everyone was frustrated.
Everyone was convinced it was impossible.

I looked at it.
Tilted my head.
Squinted.
Clicked around like a raccoon trying to open a bin.

And then…
I solved it.

Not because I followed the instructions.
Not because I did it “the right way.”
Not because I was the smartest person in the room.

But because my brain saw something, theirs didn’t.

And that’s when it hit me:

I’m not bad at tech.
I’m just different.
And different is powerful.

🌿 Friday: The Day I Finally Let Myself Be Human

By Friday, I was done pretending.

Done pretending I had perfect routines.
Done pretending I wasn’t overwhelmed.
Done pretending I didn’t need breaks.
Done pretending I was a productivity robot.
Done pretending I had everything under control.

I let myself be human.

And suddenly:

  • My work flowed

  • My ideas expanded

  • My nervous system relaxed

  • My creativity returned

  • My confidence grew

Because when you stop performing, you start living.

And when you start living, you start thriving.

🌸 What I Learned This Week (AKA: The Soft Girl Tech Manifesto)

Here’s what this chaotic, emotional, beautiful week taught me:

1. Softness is not weakness

Softness is clarity.
Softness is intuition.
Softness is emotional intelligence.
Softness is power.

2. ND brains are innovators

We don’t follow the path — we create new ones.

3. You don’t need to be loud to be powerful

Soft confidence is magnetic.

4. You don’t need to “fix” yourself

You just need environments that understand you.

5. You don’t need to pretend

Your real self is more than enough.
